Sal - I Give for Team DPS Feature“I wear my I Give for Team DPS pin all the time. I could wear seven pins or I could wear one pin that says it all.

I am proud that I’ve been able to contribute − it may not be much, but it shows that I believe in the work that I am doing; the work the district is doing. It shows a community. It shows that the people who work in DPS believe in DPS.

The campaign is my way of giving back. I got a lot of help as a child. I don’t think I would have made it here if it wasn’t for other people contributing or helping along the way. That is what has gotten to me where I am today.

I believe if we are in the service of others at all times then we will be much happier. I often ask other educators to give because I believe in the work of Denver Public Schools and the DPS Foundation.

I’ve worked with DPS for five years now. My wife says I get up earlier and I come home later. I love all aspects of my job – being able to create words and messages that affect people, catalyze change, create new habits and create new culture – it’s all tied. My team’s contribution helps the district reach its overall goal. It’s rewarding and it’s fun to get on the radio, lead a team that puts together a newspaper – a team of linguist. In the end we know we are helping Denver’s community get informed.”
