For the 165 members of the DPS Foundation run team, the 10th annual Colfax Marathon was more than just a race; it was an opportunity to make a difference in the life of a DPS student. For the third year, the DPS Foundation was a Charity Partner of the Colfax Marathon and set a team goal of raising $10,000. Thanks to the dedication of our runners, the DPS Foundation team raised more than $32,000 in support of DPS students!

Every donatColfax Photo Statemention will help us reach our vision of Every Child Succeeds, making our community a better place to live, today and long into the future.

Runner Profile: Sarah, DPS Student

Sarah CarterJust keep running and go for home! My motto when training for the Colfax Marathon! I ran for the DPS Foundation Colfax Marathon team because I love Denver Public Schools! I am a junior at East High School, and I love being an East Angel for so many reasons. I appreciate our diversity, my classes are rigorous and challenging, and I have so many opportunities to be part of various clubs, activities and sport teams. I decided to run in the Colfax Marathon because I love to run, and I just moved back to Denver. I thought it would be a good way to establish myself here and to bond with my dad, who ran too.

I chose the half marathon because I had never run 13 miles before. I selected the DPS foundation as my Charity Partner because of the support that’s been provided to me while at East. It was fun to challenge myself when training and when fundraising! It was difficult for me to step out of my comfort zone and ask for money, because I didn’t want to be annoying to my friends and family, but I am so happy that I did it! I know the money goes right back to support Denver schools, and that’s all the motivation I need!”
