For the more than 200 members of the DPS Foundation run team, the 11th annual Colfax Marathon was more than just a race; it was an opportunity to make a difference in the life of a DPS student. For the fourth year, the DPS Foundation was a Charity Partner of the Colfax Marathon and set a team goal of raising $15,000. Thanks to the dedication of our runners, the DPS Foundation team raised more than $18,000 in support of DPS students!veronica-run

Every donation will help us reach our vision of Every Child Succeeds, making our community a better place to live, today and long into the future.

We had teams from all over DPS as well as community partners running in support of our students, including one DPS teacher who chose to challenge herself and run the full marathon (26.2 miles!) this year for her students and was one of our most dedicated fundraisers.

“I chose to run for the DPS Foundation because I see what they do to enhance our students’ lives and education. Last year our school had multiple field trips that were funded by the A to Z Fund. Those trips were the highlight of the year. We took trips to college campuses, the Denver Center of the Performing Arts, and the Museum of Nature and Science. Seeing the students’ excitement as they participated in these educational experiences really made me want to give back to foundations that support my students,” said Chelsi Price, teacher at Johnson Elementary.

The fact that the Colfax Marathon race is so fun, didn’t hurt either.

“The race is truly electric and I feel that it represents our city well. It is so positive and everyone is cheering you on as you go!” Chelsi added.
