At the DPS Foundation, we believe our city is strengthened by every Denver child who graduates ready to lead a successful life. Tom Boasberg shares this belief and I want to take a moment to reflect on the news he shared today.

I have had the privilege of working for and alongside Tom since 2012. I can humbly say that I have never had a boss, mentor and friend who has been as committed to our students as Tom. He will be remembered for his high-fives, his incredible analytical skills, his remarkable ability to anticipate needs and, most importantly, his genuine drive to make things better for our students for generations to come. In every decision, Tom’s first and final focus was putting Students First.

The sole purpose of the DPS Foundation is to accelerate progress and to create opportunities for our students that they might not have otherwise. We have worked in close partnership with every superintendent for the last 25 years. We have stewarded our donor investments, connected our communities to our classrooms and remained committed to the promise of public education.

I encourage you to read Tom’s letter if you have not yet done so. It is a testament to the work of a decade as we pursue our vision of Every Child Succeeds. We must not forget that it takes all of us. The education choices we are able to make today for our children might not have been possible without Tom’s leadership. Still, we must remember that we have a long way to go until we fulfill the opportunities that all our students deserve.

Let’s take time to celebrate the progress we’ve made with Tom and look to the future, holding strong and continuing to work hard every day to fulfill our vision. Let’s link arms and continue building on the promise and progress we’ve made for Denver’s children.

Board of Education President Anne Rowe sent this letter today to the community about choosing a new leader and we will keep you updated on next steps. Tom has graciously agreed to lead for another three months, ensuring a great start to a new school year and support during this transition.

Today and always for our students, and in awe of his leadership and friendship —

Gracias, Tom Boasberg!
