Colorado Gives Day

If They See It, They Can Be It

Put Students First by donating on December 7 to DPS Foundation.

Support your community

Colorado Gives Day, held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, is a statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy across Colorado.

Colorado Gives Day gifts like yours fund classroom innovation, equity initiatives, whole child programs, and so much more. This year, you can increase your impact! On Colorado Gives Day, your dollars go even further thanks to Community First Foundation, FirstBank and other community members who will be giving a boost to every donation. And, thanks to the generous support from Jeanne and Dick Saunders, gifts made to the DPS Foundation in the month of December will be MATCHED up to $25,000!

If They See It, They Can Be It

We know providing students with new experiences is crucial to driving interest in learning and broadening their goals and beliefs about what they can achieve. Interest has the power to influence the choices we make and can be a powerful predictor of achievement. How do we develop students’ interests? Through meaningful, innovative experiences. Representation matters, too. To see goals as attainable, students must see themselves reflected in learning materials, books, and role models. Representation fuels hope and can help students see goals as within their reach.

Today you can make the choice to put Students First, to help students across the district develop interest in mathematics, science, literature, and so much more. You can fuel hope by helping support Denver Public Schools and our commitment to addressing inequity. Make a gift and help students see their dream of being a future physician, a future special education teacher, or future chemical engineer as achievable.

I love building things! I hope to go to School of Mines someday and study mechanical or chemical engineering.

My desire to get into engineering started as a child when I realized I was good at math.  When I started my own business eight years after college, I found a mentor in a past Denver Public Schools’ educator. He provided energy, mentoring, and most importantly helped me to develop a scalable framework for the Campos EPC Foundation.

Seeing successful people of color in the community motivates me to do more. We can make a significant impact at all levels, we just can’t forget our roots or the community who helped us out along the way.
