School Supply Donations

School supplies are a basic staple in a child’s education. Materials such as binders, paper, pens, rulers and calculators help students keep their lessons organized and give them the tools to complete assignments at home. Yet with over 70% of students in Denver Public Schools qualifying for Free & Reduced Lunch (a key indicator of poverty), purchasing school supplies each school year can be a challenge for many families. Many students show up on the first day of a new school year empty-handed. Oftentimes, educators report spending their own money – sometimes as much as several hundred dollars in a year – to purchase educational materials like school supplies to maintain equity amongst all students.We need your help to ensure we can send every DPS student back to school this fall equipped with all the supplies they need to learn.

Four Ways to Help:

  1. Donate backpacks and school supplies to the MEED (Minority Enterprise & Educational Development) backpack drive: The items collected by MEED will be donated to DPS students experiencing homelessness. For more information and drop off locations visit:

Collect supplies for a DPS school: Business and other organizations interested in collecting a large quantity of supplies are encouraged to contact us at or (720) 423-3553 at to be matched with an individual DPS school. There are many DPS schools and classrooms in need and we can match you with the perfect school beneficiary based on size and geography preferences. A school supply drive is also a great kick-off for an ongoing School Partnership!
  1. Participate in the Janus Community School Supply Drive in the Cherry Creek North Shopping Center. All items collected will be donated to underserved classrooms in the Denver Public School and drop off locations are located throughout Cherry Creek North. Visit: to learn more.
  1. Make a gift to the A to Z classroom fund: The DPS Foundation’s A to Z Fund provides grants to individual schools for programs and activities that go beyond the school’s limited budget. Your gift will help provide grants to schools for educational materials, athletic equipment, enrichment classes, competition fees, field trip expenses and more.
