Denver Public Schools Foundation Expands Educator Housing Support with New Partnership with Delwest

DPS Foundation is proud to announce a continued effort to support Denver Public Schools (DPS) educators through a new partnership with Delwest. This collaboration provides free housing for one year at Park Hill 4000, a Delwest property, for two DPS educators, building on the DPS Foundation’s ongoing initiatives to make living in the communities where educators teach more accessible and affordable.

The Park Hill 4000 community, located at 4000 North Albion Street, Denver, CO 80216, offers two one-bedroom apartments through a special drawing for eligible DPS classroom teachers and paraprofessionals. Final housing approval is followed per Delwest’s standard application process, including background and credit checks.

“This partnership with Delwest is a continuation of our work to support DPS educators,” said Sara Hazel, President & CEO, DPS Foundation. “We have long recognized the challenges teachers face in finding affordable housing close to the classrooms where they teach, and community partners like Delwest help us make that possible. While we know there is more work that must be done to ensure educators can live where they work, this is something tangible that can be done right now to show our educators we support them.”

DPS Foundation also extends thanks to Grand Peaks and Avalon Bay, past developers who led the way by providing free housing opportunities for DPS educators last school year. Their early support paved the way for ongoing educator housing initiatives that continue to benefit DPS teachers today.

Delwest has holistically supported schools and the community for several years now, with a long-standing commitment to DPS. During the pandemic, they launched learning pods in two of their affordable properties and provided technology and meals to students who otherwise relied on phones for remote learning. Delwest has also supported Smith Elementary and Bruce Randolph School in a variety of ways including literacy efforts, supply drive fairs and connecting families with affordable housing options.

“This teacher housing program represents the next step in Delwest’s ongoing support of educators and DPS communities,” said Joe DelZotto, Owner/President of Delwest. “Together, we are continuing an effort to ensure teachers can live near the students they serve, reducing barriers and strengthening our neighborhoods.”
