South High School and Grant Beacon Middle School received a big boost Saturday, June 2nd when more than 75 employees from Ashford University, Bridgepoint and the University of the Rockies gathered at the schools to volunteer and help with mulching, planting, painting and renovating a weight room.

“We had so much fun cleaning up these schools over the weekend,” said Mitch Thomas, vice president of the Denver Online Center. “Not only did it feel great to make a difference in the lives of these students, but it was a fantastic team building opportunity for our University.”

“The volunteers worked hard with smiling faces,” said Alex Magaña, Principal at Great Beacon Middle School. “The outside of the building look great and well-manicured. We look forward to completing mural in September with the students, and we have already been given kudos from community members on the new plants.”

The volunteer service day was organized by the DPS Foundation and the DPS facilities management team.  “We’re so appreciative to the employee teams at Ashford University, Bridgepoint and the University of the Rockies who are willing to lend their time and talents to our DPS schools,” said Nicole Capage-Brown, School Partners Manager at the DPS Foundation. “This project highlights the good that can be accomplished when people come together to serve.”
