Dear Friends,

We’re all aware of how the Colorado budget has forced school districts across the state to make drastic cuts to important programs and defer maintenance to failing infrastructure.  Denver Public Schools has faced severe cuts that have affected every student and every school.  And, these cuts have come during a period when enrollment has grown by nearly 11,000 students in the last five years.  In fact, DPS is the fastest growing school district in Colorado.

The 2012 mill and bond (3A+3B) will expand successful academic programs and put resources where they are needed most.   It will provide 850 early childhood education spots and expand kindergarten to full day for every student in Denver. It will provide new facilities and expand existing schools in the most overcrowded parts of our city.

The campaign has organized two great events this weekend.  We hope you can attend one or both! Learn more by clicking the images below or visiting http://togetherfordenversschools.org/.

Without 3A+3B, DPS will face larger class sizes, more crowded schools, possible teacher furlough days, and outdated and dilapidated facilities.  The largest investment in the bond issue will go toward facility maintenance of aging buildings, initiatives that will help increase the energy efficiency of our schools, replace aging roofs and boilers, provide cooling solutions – all to create better learning environments for students.

So please join us for one of these great events and don’t forget to make it all the way down the ballot to vote on the issues that are important for Denver, a world-class city where everyone matters.

Thank you!
