ULA backpack Drive 2011

United Launch Alliance (ULA) once again provided backpacks and school supplies for low-income and homeless children in DPS this fall. Employees leveraged resources and time to collect and assemble backpacks filled with supplies for DPS students as they began the 2011-12 school year. To celebrate and culminate the supply drive, ULA staff members, friends and neighbors came from all over metro Denver to deliver backpacks by motorcycle on a beautiful, sunny Colorado morning last week.

ULA BackPack Drive 2011 (2)

Backpacks were distributed through the Educational Outreach Program (EOP) in DPS, which serves the student population experiencing homelessness. Each rider donated supplies to EOP partner program Colorado Youth for A Change for unaccompanied older homeless teens. This generous contribution will help them start the new school year on the right foot, with all the materials they need for success! Learn more about Colorado Youth for A Change here. And THANK YOU to ULA for giving these children a head start on success in the new school year!

Minority Enterprise & Educational Development (MEED) facilitated the ULA school supply drive. For nine years, MEED has collected backpacks and school supplies for DPS’ homeless and disadvantaged youth. This year, with the help of community partners like United Launch Alliance, MEED collected over 3,400 backpacks and thousands of dollars in school supplies for Denver’s students.

Thank you United Launch Alliance!
